Hawks’ faithful Danielle Plummer, 23, will be gunning for her sixth consecutive premiership in Wagga, at Equex on Sunday.
Chances are, it will be her final shot at the Leonard Cup, but she’s not taking it too seriously.
“Six in a row would be nice,” she said.
“But if we don’t get that result, that’s it, that’s sport, Junee deserved it more.”
Plummer’s looking forward to the game, considering the fierce rivalry between the Hawks and their grand final opponents Junee Jaguars has simmered down.
“This whole season’s been a lot more social, more inter-club relationships have been formed,” she said.
“It’s a lot more enjoyable to play when you’re out there having a good time with them.”
Plummer respects each Jaguar as a threat.
“They’re serious contenders, if they fire up and play well, we’ll be in trouble,” she said.
“I’m always a bit worried when Suz (Suzanne Waia) has the ball, she’s a class player, always gives 123 per cent.
“The Goode (Ash and Morgan) twins, you can’t leave them unmarked. Sara Smart comes out from goals, attacks the ball and shuts down our options. Billie (Deacon), I reckon she’s possibly one of the fastest players in the competition, she goes hard.”
Without a doubt, Plummer’s competitive streak will also be on show.
