All season, coaches from rival teams have been reticent about facing the Strikers, due to their physicality.
Leading the charge from the centre of the park, Adam McPhail has earned a reputation as one of the toughest, and most aggressive players in the competition.
And he knows it.
They are red-hot favourites, it would be pretty sweet to pip them
- Adam McPhail
He’s hard on the ball, strong in stature, faster than many of his rivals and fearless in attack.
After his preliminary final victory on Sunday, his teammates were discussing it. He believes the reputation comes with the territory when you’re determined to win.
“I have no intent to be a grub,” he said.
“It’s just about being competitive and always doing the best you can.”
Off the field, he’s one of the friendliest blokes you’ll meet; friendship drew him back to the world game.
“All the boys are close,” he said.
“You become really good mates again.”
He anticipates a tough test on grand final night at Equex.
“It’s a big achievement to just get there,” he said.
“They are red-hot favourites, it would be pretty sweet to pip them.”
