One woman, who asked not to be named, said prices weren’t noticeably cheaper than they were a few weeks ago.
“My husband’s had his eye on a mower, but we’ll wait and see how low it gets,” she said. “I feel bad for the workers, what will they do?”
A spokesman for Woolworths, which owns Masters, said the company was pleased with response to the sale.
“Over the next three months we will work hard to ensure staff at our Masters stores can remain within the Woolworths Group through redeployment to supermarkets and other parts of the business,” he said.
All Masters stores, including Wagga, will close by December 11.
