The team will travel to the Queanbeyan sevens on September 10, which is also the ACT selection trials.
Some of the best talent in the region will get the opportunity to press their claims to be part of the national sevens championships.
Coach Nick McCarthy believes it is another avenue for players for players to further themselves.
“We have decided to go into that space this year to give some more rugby to the players and gets them exposed to some elite level football,” McCarthy said.
“It is an opportunity for the boys to play some more elite level rugby.
“It is something we haven’t gone too heavily into in the past in the zone, but there was opportunity there this year outside of the season so it was something we thought we would get on board with.”
McCarthy has named a 14-man squad which includes a number of players from Southern Inland’s team that once again won the Brumbies Provinical Tournament.
He is pleased with those who put their hand up to play.
“We had good nominations from four or five clubs,” McCarthy said.
“Some of the clubs didn’t get involved and I think that is due to the end of the season and quite a heavy end for a few of them.
“I am really happy with the side we have been able to pick.
“We have a very fit, quick side so we will be looking to play with a lot of speed.”
The women’s team has also been announced as they look to continue their success in the representative arena.
They will also take part in the Queanbeyan sevens as well as events in Goulburn, Braidwood and Canberra in October.
