The striker had a successful State League season, playing for the Wagga City Wanderers’ under 20’s team.
Ploenges was the team’s top-scorer, with 10 goals from 16 games in 2016.
The under 20’s finished seventh from 12; a vast improvement on 2015.
The dual-registered player received clearance to participate in Henwood Park’s final preliminary game of the season on Sunday.
Ploenges scored two goals in the Hawks’ 10-1 win over Northern Riverina Nomads at Rawlings Park.
He was disappointed in the result.
“It should have been more (than 10 goals), we had so many chances,” he said.
However, the result hasn’t curbed his enthusiasm for the season to come.
