Then ninth-placed Young upset third-placed Tolland with a 2-0 victory to claim the three points at home on Sunday.
Young took full advantage of Tolland, a club that chose to rest a large portion of first-grade players to preserve the team for the Pascoe Cup elimination finals next week.
Young scored a goal in both halves to grind-out a win.
“I couldn’t be happier,” Young coach Calum McCaffery said.
“The boys did everything that we talked about.”
Meantime, then eighth-placed Tumut drew with seventh-placed Junee 2-2 in Tumut on Sunday.
Tumut and Junee shared the points; a frustrating end for both teams.
Junee coach and goalkeeper Isaac Cooper was annoyed with the state of Bull Paddock and his team’s performance.
“We saved our worst game for the end of the season,” he said.
“We had 85 per cent of the ball, we just didn’t work hard enough.
“And it was an absolute goat-paddock of a field.”
Tumut’s coach and centre midfield player Matthew Lopez missed the final game of the season, unavailable on Sunday.
In the Pascoe Plate finals, fifth-placed Henwood Park plays sixth-placed South Wagga, and Junee plays eighth-placed Young.
