Tranquil Magic has taken all before him so far in his career but steps up to a new test at Wagga on Sunday.
After winning his first five starts over 320 metres, Tranquil Magic will step up in distance for the first time in the Rules Club Wagga Stakes (400m).
The Oakmans are confident the change of distance won’t be too much of a concern.
“He has been trialing well,” Barbara Oakman said.
“He trialed brilliantly over the 400 back that was back in February but he had some waterworks issues (with his kidney) so we spelled him.
“Kev has got things right so we hope that he can hold on.”
He has also drawn box six for the longer assignment but it hasn’t been an issue in the past with two of his wins from the same starting point.
“The box doesn’t seem to worry him,” Oakman said.
“He was won over the short from box six and won last time from four.”
Despite having such a long stint in the industry, Tranquil Magic is quickly rising to the top of the list of the best greyhounds the Oakmans have trained.
While a number of Tranquil Magic’s littermates, trained by son Rod Oakmaan, have been sent to race in Sydney, the Oakmans are looking to keep hold of Tranquil Magic and enjoy whatever ride he takes them on.
