Diagnosed with the illness roughly six years ago, the 66-year-old remembers the debilitating fear leading up to his six-monthly biopsies.
The third biopsy wasn’t the charm for the retiree when his doctor broke life-changing news after a routine check-in.
“On the third biopsy I was told it had become very aggressive and the outlook really wasn’t good,” he said.
Thankfully the Wagga man was able to survive the ordeal, crediting his support network and quick detection.
He will be just one of several prostate cancer survivors at Wagga’s Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch next Friday.
“It’s so important to be able to talk about it with others who are having the same experience.”
The event, at the RSL Club, raises funds for Prostate Cancer Foundation research.
