The Eagles season finished last Saturday and they have been quick to announce the appointment of Lane as the replacement for outgoing coach Tim Sullivan.
Lane arrived at Narrandera this season from Ovens and Murray League club Corowa-Rutherglen and has made a big impression.
Lane, 24, admitted he took a little bit of convincing but is happy to take on the job.
“Maybe a little bit, I’m not really a footy tragic and it’s not something I thought about doing beforehand,” Lane said.
“But the opportunity is there and it’s about getting the right support around me.”
Narrandera won just the two games this season and Lane’s goal is for improvement.
“I want to develop what’s in place,” he said.
“Everyone wants improvement and results are how you judge that. So if we can produce results then it shows everyone we’re heading in the right direction.”
Lane said Narrandera’s recruitment priority will be adding to the Eagles’ midfield depth to compliment the height the club already boasts.
Lane said he thoroughly enjoyed his first year at the club.
“We didn’t quite get the results but it was still really good. It’s a nice change, different scenery and I’ve been pretty well looked after so I can’t complain,” he said.
