A group of engineering students from Iwate prefecture in northern Japan arrived in Wagga this week and have been given a guided tour of the city through Charles Sturt University (CSU).

The week is a cultural exchange and English language enrichment sojourn.
CSU School of Humanities and Social Sciences adjunct senior lecturer in English, David Gilbey, organised the visit and program with Professor Yoshihiko Hatakeyama of the National Institute of Technology Ichinoseki (NITI).
The students visited Wagga glass museum and art gallery on Tuesday, and travelled to Junee on Wednesday.
One of the students, Tomoyuki Yamada, said he had wanted to visit foreign countries from when he was a child.
Another, Koji Yaegashi, said: “Globalisation is a hot topic … I hope the gaps will become smaller and learning English will help me in my career.”
