Rogic's goal caps off a positive week for the Australian who was selected in the Ange Postecoglou's 23-man squad for the final stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.

The match wasn't as easy as the scoreline suggests for Brendan Rodgers' men who found the 3-0 first half lead cut down to 3-2.

The Australian international scored first after nine minutes by calmly playing his shot into the back of the net from the edge of the box.

The ball spilled to the 23-year-old after Hapoel goalkeeper David Goresh collided with Celtic striker Scott Sinclair and the Canberran made no mistake.

Leigh Griffiths then scored twice before half time to give the Scottish outfit a 3-0 lead at the break.

In the second half things didn't go to plan for Celtic when Hapoel scored twice in as many minutes to rally from 3-0 down to 3-2.

Goals from Moussa Dembele and Scott Brown steadied the Celtic ship who now look to holding onto their three goal advantage heading into the second leg.

After tha match, Brendan Rodgers said there's more to come from his team.

"We're nowhere near the finished article yet but they look an exciting team full of character," he said.

"I thought the fans were absolutely incredible as well. The support tonight really helped the players."

The second leg will be played on Wednesday (AEST) at 4:45am.
