She was among the first in Wagga to get her hands on the next chapter of a series that has retained a loyal fandom.
Millicent walked around the supermarket with her mother, Shannon Jaeger, already engrossed in the book.
The seven-year-old has read all of the books and was extremely excited for the release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
“It’s interesting, it’s fun and it’s not for people one age,” she said of the series.
Millicent was excited to see the return of her favourite character, Ron Weasley, in the a play script set 19 years after the seventh book.
Collins Booksellers owner Peter Halicki said more than 70 pre-orders were received and they had to place a double order of the book a week ago.
“We are very worried about running out before close today,” he said.
The special rehearsal edition script had a simultaneous worldwide release to coincide with the stage production in London.
Mr Halicki expects the series to exceed sale for previous popular titles including Maze Runner, Twilight and Miss Peregrine.
