The Demons successfully jumped Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong into fifth spot, at least for Saturday night, with a big win, 17.16 (118) to 0.4 (4) in tough conditions at Maher Oval.
The two-time reigning premiers were able to keep Turvey Park goalless and to one of the lowest scores in Riverina League history, as the home team managed just four behinds.
The performance earned the Demons 12 percentage points and put them to fifth spot, with GGGM still to play Griffith on Sunday.
Collingullie-GP coach Brett Lenon was rapt to move into fifth.
“I’m very happy, for tonight at least anyway, we’ve got to fifth spot,” Lenon said.
“We haven’t been in the top five all year. It’s a small little advantage, even if it is only for tonight.”
Lenon said the most pleasing aspect of the performance was the way his team went about it.
“Just our effort in the conditions I suppose,” he said.
“Our effort is really good at the moment and that’s why we’re getting a few results.
“In the going, to keep them without a goal with some really strong defensive pressure, was pleasing.”
Nick Kennedy, Lachie Moore and Daniel Frawley were the pick of the Demons players in the big win.
The goals were shared around with Jayden Klemke leading the way with three majors.
Tim Doyle, Corban O’Malley and Josh Donaldson were the Bulldogs’ best.
