Consecutive losses have dropped Griffith from second to fourth on the Riverina League ladder a month out from finals.
While the heat is on the Swans, GGGM come into the game under more pressure as they travel to Exies Oval needing to win to stay in the top five.
Griffith have been well beaten in the past fortnight and director of coaching Adrian Pavese is unsure where it has all gone wrong.
“I don’t know, we’re not sure,” Pavese said.
“We coughed up a lot of goals against Gullie from simple mistakes and our confidence dropped a little bit.
“Blokes then went into their shell.
“We still had 60 tackles, so the effort was there to a point but we just kept giving up the footy.
“We had 50 at training on Tuesday night so we’re still working hard, we just need to turn it around somehow.”
Turning it around will have a lot to do with the players backing themselves, according to Pavese.
“Don’t be afraid to make mistakes,” Pavese said will be his message.
“I don’t care if you make a mistake, it’s how you react. You have to take ownership of it.
“If there is two mistakes in a row and you get your hands on the ball, be the one to turn things around.”
Griffith’s chances will be boosted by the return of Mick Duncan and Alex Blissett on Sunday.
Pavese is happy to get the pair back.
“It will be good, we’re looking for a bit of a spark,” he said.
“Alex Blissett hasn’t played in five weeks but he will give us some outside run, and Mick speaks for himself.”
GGGM forward James Lawton will surely be in Griffith’s sights after another seven goal best-on-ground performance against Coolamon last week.
Pavese though is just as worried about the threat of teenager Riley Corbett up forward, while he also hopes his team has enough weapons to be causing GGGM some headaches in reply.
GGGM coach Luke Sicker saw enough in the Lions’ 11-point loss to Griffith earlier in the year to know his team is capable of knocking off the Swans.
“Defintely, we’re excited for the challenge,” he said.
“We’ve put back-to-back wins together now, we’ve only done that one other time this season, and we definitely see it as a winnable game.
"We feel we let it slip last time, that’s not to underestimate Griffith, they’re a quality side but we’ll go over there full of confidence.”
