Coach Andrew Douglas praised Fry’s work after a 3-0 loss to minor premiership hopeful Hurstville FC on Sunday.
“Our keeper pulled off some great saves to keep the scoreline what it was,” Douglas said.
Fry, humbled by Douglas’ praise, shifted the credit to his teammates.
“Three more saves would have been nice,” Fry said.
“To be honest I think the whole team played pretty well, the team we played against was pretty good.”
Wanderers face competition leaders St George, a team that’s lost one game from 17, in Cootamundra on Saturday at 3pm.
Though the seventh-placed Wanderers are clear underdogs, Fry believes they can muster an upset.
“It’s going to be tough for them after the long bus trip, hopefully we can cause an upset,” Fry said.
“I haven’t played them previously, they must be a good team.
“We’re pretty good going forward, if we can just strengthen up defensively, that includes me, if I can save a couple more goals, hopefully we can win.”
For Fry, it has been a smooth transition thanks to his local club Junee Jaguars who have been supportive and the Wanderers who have been flexible, allowing him to play for Junee when games don’t clash.
