A Kooringal resident was not at home when two men trespassed on his property with designs to steal his property.
But this time, the crooks were caught in the act.
Police responded quickly to reports of intruders at a Chifley Crescent house about 8.10pm on February 17.
They found 19-year-old Tyrone Sands and another man walking in the back yard.
The other man held two yellow flat head screwdrivers and a pair long nose pliers which had been taken from a tool box in a garage on the property.
Asked by police if they lived at the address, Sands and the other man admitted immediately they did not.
They were arrested and while Sands was being searched police found a plastic bag containing cannabis in the front of his pants.
Sands on Wednesday pleaded guilty in Wagga Local Court to entering a dwelling with intent to commit a serious indictable offence (larceny) in company.
He will be sentenced in Wagga District Court in October.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has dropped the most serious of eight child pornography allegations against Wagga man Mark Newman, 39, of Glenfield Park.
But the court heard on Wednesday the DPP was considering prosecuting Newman in the District Court on seven charges of possessing child abuse material.
In other court news, a man turfed off the XPT passenger train at Wagga on Wednesday morning was wanted for breaching bail on an assault charge in Sydney.
Appearing for the man – Gary Harper – solicitor David Barron told the court his instructions were that Harper and his partner had left Sydney to escape the drug scene at Kings Cross and planned to stay with friends at Bungendore in the Southern Highlands.
“They overshot the mark, I think, to get to Bungendore,” Mr Barron said.
Magistrate Erin Kennedy granted Harper fresh bail and adjourned the assault charge to the Downing Centre Local Court for hearing.
