Top team, Uranquinty, is yet to lose a match this season and the Aces only defeat was when they last met, with the young Greens winning a thriller 40-38.
Both teams started well after the three week break, with Uranquinty easily accounting for Kooringal and the Aces winning with a similar score line over Turvey Park.
Uranquinty will look to key defenders, Brea Wood and Brooke Tilyard, to continue their good form against the Aces’ shooters, Leanne Frow and Paige Guthrie, who are among the best in the competition.
However, should they not do the task required, the versatile Ella Finemore could certainly hold down either of GD or GK.
Olivia Tilyard has been playing well in the centre for the Greens, but will have a real challenge when up against the most experienced Rachael Addison. Grace Cornell and Tameka Scott have been performing well in their role of linking the defence with the attack and their duels with likely opponents, Abbey Corbett and Abbey Fellows could be critical to the outcome of the match.
Lana Duffy and any of Paige Colenso, Hannah Finemore or Ella Finemore will come up against a seasoned defence of the Aces, featuring Tracy Schulz-Cole, Lisa Reynoldson, Marie Campbell and Rhiannon Podmore. The latter four have the ability to intercept frequently, with their uncanny reading of the play and will make scoring hard for the Uranquinty shooters.
As a top-of-the-table clash is expected to, this game should provide a top class contest and if it’s as close as when they first met this season, a nail-biter should ensue.
Turvey Park will hope to have some personnel back this week in their clash with Shooting Stars.
Turvey Park showed several instances of fine play last week against the Aces, but have to work harder on retaining possession, particularly from their centre passes. Turvey can expect the usual good performances from Jaimee Smith in defence, Kira and Teagan Hallam up forward and the return of Amanda Gooden to work with Lauren Barton in the centre.
Turvey will be hoping Claudia Barton and Grace Carmichael are available this week, as the expected absence of Nicky Gallagher will be difficult to cover.
Turvey can hope that the Stars are a little rusty, not having played for a month, but with a star-studded line-up featuring Jemima Norbury, Jenee West, Michelle Forrell, Stacey Curran and Olivia Lang to name but a few will still be considered favourites to record another win.
