After a month on the sidelines, the midfielder’s comeback was short-lived when Carroll only lasted one kick as he re-aggravated the issue against Northern Jets on Saturday.
With only three weeks until the finals start, there was initial doubt over Carroll’s season, however he believes it isn’t as bad as first feared.
“It is not too bad,” Carroll said. "It isn’t great, but hopefully the season isn’t over.”
Carroll will have a better understanding of the timeline for what lies ahead following MRI scans on Tuesday.
“In hindsight I should have waited another week, but you can’t do much about that,” Carroll said.
Overcoming a slow start, after kicking just one goal in the first half, Carroll was impressed by how the team recovered away from home against the Jets.
“It was good after quarter-time and a good second half to keep them goal-less and finish the way we did,” he said. “We didn’t really start at all until quarter-time but after that was a lot better.”

The Blues are out to extend their winning streak to 12 when the tackle CSU at Coleambally Sportsground on Saturday.
CSU are currently second last but Carroll expects a tougher test than what the Bushpigs’ lowly position on the ladder suggests.
“They are obviously playing some good footy, testing some teams so we have to much sure we turn up and play well,” he said.
With wins against East Wagga-Kooringal and The Rock-Yerong Creek already this season, the Blues are riding a wave of success but are yet to play both of last year’s grand finalists again this season.
After coming unstuck in the finals in both of his years leading the club, Carroll is hopeful this could be the season the Blues go on with the job.
“We haven’t had the best final series, we only won the one game last year and obviously none the year before, but hopefully our good form can continue when the finals come,” he said.
