Sheard received his third yellow card for the season in the win over CSU at Conolly Rugby Complex on Satuday.
A third yellow normally results in an automatic one-game suspension, but Wagga City officially appealed the card on Monday afternoon.
The date for the judicial hearing is yet to be confirmed but is expected to take place on Tuesday night.
One thing believed to be in the Northern Irishman’s favour is the fact that all three yellow cards where for team offences.
Scott Callaghan said the team penalty aspect was a big influence behind the appeal.
“He has worked hard all season to be in the finals and we would hate to see a guy miss out through team yellow cards,” Callaghan said.
“If it wasn't a team caution prior they just would have been run of the mill penalties.
“It is not foul play our anything, it is just unfortunate it’s been a penalty on top of other penalties where the team has already infringed.”
Wagga City has received the most yellow cards this season, with three more players on their final warning.
However, the Boiled Lollies will welcome back captain James Maloney after he was suspended last week for his third yellow.
Meanwhile, the game times for the first week of finals will be ratified at a Southern Inland board meeting on Monday night.
It is expected the qualifying final between Tumut and Leeton will start at 3.15pm.
