But their second win in three games was also just their second since round four – a reminder of a winless stretch that means making up four points on Marrar isn’t as easy as it sounds.

The Kangaroos started well and kicked straight  at Peter Hastie Oval, in contrast to last week’s costly loss to the Bombers when they kicked 15 behinds.

“They (finals) are still a possibility but you probably more rue your kicking last week which cost us the game,” Temora coach Christin Macri said.

“We’ve dropped two other games that I feel we should’ve won but that’s all done now. We’ve just got to try and beat North Wagga next week at home and if we do that we’ll see what happens.”

Temora finish off with tough road trips to East Wagga-Kooringal and The Rock-Yerong Creek while Marrar face the Northern Jets, CSU and Barellan.

The Kangaroos led throughout and were as much as 29 points clear late in the game before the Bushpigs pegged them back again.

Charlie Vallance kicked four goals from centre-half-forward while rising star Jacob Turner and ruckman Anthony Atkin were the difference in the middle.

“(Atkin) gets up and really gives us first use and knows where to hit the ball for the boys so that’s always good and Jacob was back to his good form of last year, we haven’t seen him much this year,” Macri said.

“And we had another first game today, Dave Murphy, and he acquitted himself quite well so that was pleasing – he gets a good experience and good memories of his first win, so the boys were around him.

“It was a good day.”
