The divisive issue of secularisation was on the table for students participating in the mock parliament.
Wagga’s 2016 youth parlimentarian Sarah Zia is on the committee of multiculturalism.
Her committee’s bill was to separate church from state.
Sarah, who returned from a sitting week over the recent school holidays, said the youth parliament focused on policy rather than politics.
“We looked at broadening scripture classes to other types of religion,” the year 10 student said.
“That way we could implement ethnic diversity from a young age and get rid of cultural segregation.”
The ambitious 15-year-old is also in the middle of writing a book on health and fitness.
