Heading into his third full season with the club, Bolton has been elevated to the role after coming on board as co-coach last season.
He shared the the coaching duties with Andrew Dutton last year while Keenan Hanigan captained the side.
Both Hanigan and Dutton will continue on as players and the 35-year-old is excited for what lies ahead for the Colts.
“It is very exciting, Andrew has done a very good job and Keenan as well with the first grade captaincy,” Bolton said.
“I am looking forward to hopefully carrying on with some more success.”
After an up and down season, the Colts failed to defend their title after being knocked out in the first week of the finals.
There has been little change of personnel, so Bolton is looking to the team to be more consistent.
“We played patches of good cricket and patches of not so good cricket but our second won the premiership for the third year running so we have good depth at the club,” he said.
“The main focus is one hopefully retaining all the players from last year.”
The Colts also have a new president with Rob Etchells coming in to replace Brenton Crawford.
Meanwhile, Lake Albert has lost one of its premierships heroes with Brett Davies signing with Lavington after taking up a new job on the border.
