The Demons young gun will finish a big week by running out against Wagga Tigers today and has informed the Giants of his intention to play out the remainder of the season with Collingullie.
Perryman is destined for an AFL career after a brilliant under 18 national championships where he was named All Australian, as well as most valuable player (MVP) for the Allies and NSW-ACT Rams.
Perryman will spend a week at the Giants in school holidays then play a game with their reserve grade team before returning to see the year out at Collingullie.
“I’m going to play a NEAFL game with them and have training with them for a week,” Perryman said.
“I’ve told them I don’t want to travel each week, that I want to spend the rest of the year at home, enjoy it and play with my local club.”
The Giants will get first crack at Perryman at the AFL Draft later in the year with many tipping him to go in the top 10 selections.
The 17-year-old is not interested in the associated commentary.
“I don’t really look at it much,” he said.
“We don’t get much internet out at the farm so I don’t really get to see much of it.
“I try to go out and get a kick each week and see what happens.
“I don’t worry about the other stuff, just doing my best for the team.”
While not one for the fanfare, Perryman enjoyed the national championships experience.
“It’s been pretty good. I surprised myself a bit," he said.
“Now I’m just looking forward to getting out to the Gullie (on Saturday).”
Perryman has already played in two senior premierships at Collingullie-GP and will be an important inclusion at the back end of the year as the Demons fight to save their season.
Perryman is looking forward to it.
“It’s a bit more casual, just rocking up for a game without any pressure on you. You can just go out there and enjoy yourself,” he said.
