Rant way off track
RAY Goodlass has ranted on about Israel and Palestine before in his columns so I can be forgiven for expecting him to have a good understanding of the situation.

I was disappointed to read his last rant where he calls Israeli's "Zionists" and “terrorists”.
Maybe you should look up the meaning of a Zionist Ray; I'm proud to be a Zionist.
And while you are looking things up, Ray, how about you look up a place called Judea, you might actually learn something about the history of the area.
Ray, you also mentioned that you were interrogated by the IDF for four hours.
Fair enough, I too would have some questions as to why someone with your sexual orientation would like to travel to a place with a 95 per cent Muslim population.
The fact is that Israel is the only place in the middle east where you can be openly gay.
Anywhere else in that part of the world you would be thrown off a tall building, have your head chopped off, stoned to death or put in jail.
How about next time you travel to Palestine, Ray, you take up the LGBTIQ movement with them and see how far that gets you.

DID Geoff Field seriously suggest that it was possible that Australian born terrorists who go overseas to fight for IS could get TPI pensions?
Actually, yes he did (DA, Letters, June 16).
Before I laughed out loud, I had a look at the DVA website and it says that, unless you serve on a submarine, to qualify for a TPI pension you need to have served on "assignment to and service on a post-Second World War deployment which has been declared to be warlike service by the Minister for Defence".
Now I found that in less than two minutes.
Then I laughed.
Speaking of submarines, the water is gushing out of his argument at this point.
There have been a number of letters to the DA of late, where the information used to support argument that is just plain, downright, stone-cold incorrect.
Even though Geoff was pushing the political barrow of a megalomaniac, right wing fascist loony, I read this outlandish statement and actually started to feel a bit sorry for him.
So if you feel compelled to put your name to something, can I suggest that you all do a little homework. It's getting a bit too easy to torpedo you and scuttle your arguments.

Sinking in debt hole
LAST month, my credit card was a lot higher than normal because of an unusual capital purchase.
The bank was kind enough to tell me if I paid the total owing I didn’t have to pay any interest.
If I just paid the minimum payment it would take me just over 135 years and I would pay $311,854.19 interest.
Or I could pay just under $3000 a month for two years and only pay $13,084.42 interest which would be a saving of $298,769.77.
I try not to run a deficit and governments should do the same.
Just ask Greece.
Do the people who want us to go further into debt care about the generations to come?
