Waters combined with jockey John Kissick to take out the Rock At The Races Maiden Handicap (1400m) with Pastiche.
The win was the three-year-old filly’s first at start three.
After just missing the placings in her first two starts, Patische wanted to duck out towards the running rail but had enough to defeat Manueltio ($13). Kissick believes she has plenty of upside.
“Her run on debut was really, really good and in her second run she came home from near last and flew home so it was a good run again,” Kissick said.
“She did a little bit wrong but was too good for them so there is a bit of upside to her.”
Kissick then went on to make it a race-to-race double upsetting $2.80 favourite Eklands with Magnaro ($5) for Daniel McCarthy, shortening the odds of claiming another Southern Districts premiership.
