Second-placed Vicious & Delicious players anticipate a tough match against the favourites at Bolton Park on Thursday night.
“They have big, handy players,” Vicious & Delicious captain Brendan Watson.
“They haven’t got a weak spot to aim at, they can all pass, they can all hit.
“Then again, we’re fairly similar.”
Spooners beat Vicious & Delicious in early rounds but the underdogs have emerged victorious from a match in the latter part of the season.
Watson believes that controlling the pace is the key to beating them again.
“We need to play at our tempo,” Watson said.
“They're a very fast-paced sort of a side.
“If we slow down and control the ball we’ll be fine.”
Spooners veteran Neal Molineaux plans to keep it simple.
“It’s about very easy hits,” Molineaux said.
“It’s about keeping the ball up, positioning it in comfortable spots and putting the last one on the floor.”
Third-placed Hip Tastics put Vicious & Delicious through the wringer in the preliminary finals last week in a five-set joust.
“It was a long game, we started off well but we lost a bit of concentration,” Watson said.
“We finished strong.”
Vicious & Delicious standout player Matthew Lloyd will feature in the grand final.
Watson’s experience has served the team well, but an injury could prevent him from playing his best volleyball on Thursday.

Watson tore a leg muscle playing hockey less than a fortnight ago.
“Hopefully my leg holds up, it slowed me down in the semi final,” Watson said.
“I’m getting there.”
After finishing runner-up last season Watson is keen to come out on top.
“I’ve been in the last 10 to 15 grand finals in first grade, the beers go down easier the night afterwards with a win,” he said.
