The Dragons finished ninth on the Group Nine ladder with just three wins this year, but the former Group 20 grand final coach said a lack of talent wasn't to blame for the uninspiring season.
Chambeyron, who took Tullibigeal Lakes United through to the Group 20 decider opposite West Wyalong last month, has begun outlining his plans to revive the Dragons' proud rugby league reputation next season.
Fresh from penning a contract with the Dragons for 2013, Chambeyron yesterday revealed his tactics to revive the rugby league stronghold.
"I went over for a couple of games this season and saw that they have a good nucleus of a side," he said yesterday.
"They weren't very successful this season but they went fairly close to a lot of sides and a lot of their games could have gone either way.
"There's a bit of a plan there, we're hoping overall to work with the local talent that's already there.
"Obviously their under 18s won the grand final this year so there's a lot of good young guys coming through that we can work with.
"Temora is a really tight club so we'd love to bring them through, but we certainly have some plans to add two or three key players into the mix.
"They've got a very handy forward pack but maybe an experienced five-eighth or halfback or fullback could give them a bit more direction and get those structures going."
After this year’s coach Neville Elwin announced he was stepping down from the top job at the end of the season, the Dragons were in hot pursuit of a leader to bring a fresh outlook to the Dragons.
Having spent two years in charge of the Sharks, Chambeyron transformed the team into a Group 20 powerhouse and hopes to do the same with the Dragons.
“I’m really excited, it’s a good opportunity for me,” he said.
“I’m pretty excited to get back into Group Nine as well, obviously Temora are a pretty proud and successful club so it’s a fantastic opportunity to coach their first grade side.”
Before signing with the Sharks at the end of 2010, Chambeyron was heavily involved in a coaching role with Kangaroos for several years alongside current Dragons players Chris Jordan and Brett Williams.
Dragons president Alan Rands was yesterday thrilled to announce Chambeyron’s signature.
