The amount was revealed at the annual president changeover on Thursday night at the Wagga Country Club, where Mary Ann Kelly handed the reins to Paul Galloway.
In the 12 months to June the club spent $29,658 on its Darkness to Light sight initiative in the Riverina and India, as well as gifting $25,000 to the families of children diagnosed with cancer.
It comes soon after the Rotary Club of Wagga Rotary helped convince the federal government to grant Filipino Rex Flores permanent residency after a kidney transplant meant he could not be employed as a meat worker at Teys’ Bomen abattoir.
Late last month the charity was devastated when arsonists targeted the building used to store the Book Fair stockpile, just one week after the raising $50,00 from the annual sale.
On Thursday night Gerry Page and Neil Hilpern were jointly awarded Rotarian of the Year for their work running the Book Fair.
