The Saints kicked five goals in each of the last three quarters to run out 95-point winners at McPherson Oval, 17.11 (113) to 3.0 (18).
There were encouraging signs heading into games against the top four sides.
Centre-half-forward Alex Grozinger kicked four goals and played his best game of the year, while assistant coach Daniel Jordan bagged half-a-dozen from full-forward, to join Grozinger in the league’s top five goalkickers.
Coach Kirk Hamblin (back from a rib injury) said a couple of positional adjustments also made a big difference.
“We moved Lachie Highfield and Jake May to a half-back flank to get a bit of drive and they provided us with run all day,” Hamblin said.
“It’s probably something we’ve lacked all year.”
Kabe Stockton and Mitch Hawker were Barellan’s best.
