The Lions kicked 11 goals straight in the second half to run out winners over the Bulldogs, 17.10 (112) to 6.2 (38).
GGGM captain-coach Luke Sicker said it was his team’s lesser likes that stood tall.
“It was a day where we had a heap out so we gave different opportunities to different blokes and I thought they stood up and cemented their spots, which was good,” Sicker said.
“For a game we had to win, our young blokes and guys on the fringe stood up and did well.”
In his first game in six weeks, Adam Cullen returned to make an immediate impact and was the Lions’ best.
Sicker was also impressed with his six under 17 players, namely Harry Stapleton, Riley Corbett, Tom Anderson and Jack Sase.
