Canberra-based recruit Rob Tuohey has suspected ligament damage to his ankle and could miss the remainder of the season.
Key defender John Anstee has also broken a bone in his foot and underwent surgery in Canberra on Friday afternoon.
He will be back for finals.
Wagga Tigers captain-coach Shaun Campbell revealed Tuohey may not return this year.
“Quite possibly, best case is that he may be back for finals,” Campbell said.
“He’s been a big target for us down there but we can’t be dwelling on it.
“It gives someone else an opportunity. We have heaps of talent down there.”
Tuohey was thrown to full-forward at Tigers in a bid to provide strength to their attack and he had returned 29 goals from seven games.
Anstee’s recovery time for his foot is six weeks and he was already set to miss August due to an overseas trip.
Anstee, who has played 98 games at Tigers, said he will be “100 per cent” for finals.
Campbell did not want to focus on the injuries and instead was excited about the opportunities they will provide.
“We’ve got blokes coming out our ears so our depth will be right,” he said.
Tigers’ will get the chance to put their depth to the test when they take on Leeton-Whitton at Robertson Oval on Saturday.
Campbell said the Crows are the best team they have faced this year ‘by a long way’.
