Wagga’s newest business has opened in Bye Street, with speed demons invited to crack the lap record. “It’s a bit like golf, it’s simple to learn but hard to master,” co-owner Andrew Clarke said.
Partnering Mr Clarke in the business is his step-brother Brendan O’Connor, they’re both passionate motor racing fans. “Each year we’d lock the doors and watch the Bathurst 1000,” Mr O’Connor said. They’ve been working on the idea for the business for the past year and have been inundated with inquiries – not just from Wagga.
Mr Clarke said a group of people from Albury travelling to Wagga called up to find out if they were open last week. “We know people will come to Wagga for (go-karts),” he said.
There’s already talk of starting competitions for juniors, ladies, businesses and the possibility of a Riverina Cup. “There’s also opportunities for cross-promotion with car clubs and amateur racers.”
