The looming wintry blast has prompted the NSW State Emergency Service to issue a warning to the Tumut River Valley for possible flooding and damaging winds.
Snow will likely fall down to 700 metres, which will include the areas around Tumbarumba and Batlow, with 20 to 50cm of snow expected. The Snowy Mountains Highway will be affected.
Other areas in the region are warned to expect 10 to 20mm of rain, with some parts set to receive up to 40mm, which could strain already swollen waterways around Cootamundra and Mirrool Creek, with the possibility of thunderstorms and hail.
There is a silver lining for skiers, as the snow fields will receive a boost after a couple of lacklustre seasons.
