The Junee rugby league legend and NSW coach will be out to keep the State of Origin series alive at Suncorp Stadium when the Blues tackle Queensland in game two.
It may be hundreds of kilometres away, but some of Daley’s family and friends will be decked out in Blues gear at Junee’s Locomotive Hotel to a show of support for Laurie.
“We’re meeting at the Loco to watch it,” Laurie’s cousin Liz Ryan said.
“A couple of cousins went to watch the first game and a whole bunch are going to the third game in Sydney.
“Because it’s Laurie’s third year as coach, and that’s the term he signed up for, we have made a really big deal of it this year. We’re really proud of him.”
Ryan has faith that Laurie’s men can get the job done.
“That’s why we’re being so passionate, we’re trying to generate as much support as we can because it really makes a difference when the team sees how much support they have,” Ryan said.
“As long as they do what Laurie tells them to do, they’re a chance.”
Meantime, tickets in Junee Diesels major fundraiser for the year, a trip to Hamilton Island, will be on offer outside Junee IGA on Wednesday.
