Wannabes teammates Brenden Mellan and Kamal George defeated Dragons players Peter Raczkowski and Mike McCall three games to one in the major quarter final on Tuesday night.
In the tightest game of the night, Mellan beat Raczkowski 51-46, George defeated McCall 77 to 43, Mellan defeated McCall 128 to 45 and Raczkowski defeated George 82 to 26.
Wannabes progress through to the grand final in a fortnight, and the Dragons will play the Grinders in the semi final next week.
The Grinders, Terry Storch and Paul Drinnan, are on a high after a convincing win in the minor quarter final on Tuesday night.
Grinders defeated Rollin’ players Nick Oakman and Christian De Camps three games to none.
Storch beat De Camps 69 to 19, Drinnan defeated Oakman 56 to 37 and Storch beat Oakman 57 to 50.
“We beat them (Grinders) really convincingly last week,” McCall said.
McCall has won the doubles tournament four times with four different partners.
He was teamed up with Raczkowski for his most recent win in 2013 and believes they can take it out again.
“We have the ability and the will to beat them (Wannabes),” he said.
