Councillor Paul Funnell told the chamber on Monday night preventing drivers from travelling straight through the roundabout from the left lane “would guarantee an increase in minor crashes”.
“It’s not safe, it’s impeding traffic flow, and there’s a lot of driver angst and anger,” Cr Funnell said.
Engineers had released a report defending the changes to traffic conditions in March, but staff will now inform Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) and NSW Police they intent to reverse their decision.
Pending approval, drivers will be allowed to continue straight from the left lane.
