Out of pure chance and circumstance, Woman’s Day contacted Wagga mother Leila Bright about featuring her daughter’s story in their publication.
Miss Bright has been on the forefront of raising awareness about her daughter’s condition since Mia was born with proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD).
She jumped at the chance to appear in this week’s edition of the magazine.
“We want to raise awareness and break down the stigma of differences,” Miss Bright said.
She said appearing in the magazine was to help not just Mia but all others with Mia’s condition.
Miss Bright recently started a campaign to get an all-inclusive playground for children with disabilities to be built in Wagga.
Miss Bright will be at the Sturt Mall on Friday from 12pm to 2pm as part of council’s community awareness consultations.
She will be getting the parents’ perspective on how they can improve the community to make it more inclusive.
