The future of the Bakrie Group's ownership of Brisbane Roar hangs in the balance after the conglomerate delayed its response regarding issues surrounding its leadership to Football Federation Australia.

The uncertainty over the ownership of the club grew on Monday after the FFA became frustrated by the lack of leadership, direction and administrators at the club, which left it rudderless during vital stages of the off-season. The Bakrie Group is running the risk of breaching its A-League licence agreement following the exodus of chief executive David Pourre and other key directors that has left coach John Aloisi unable to recruit players for next season.
The FFA had demanded the owners made their intentions clear for the direction of the club's future by 5pm on Monday but instead received a request from the Bakrie Group for a seven-day extension that has not yet been approved.
"Football Federation Australia has today received correspondence from the Bakrie Group in relation to the Brisbane Roar FC," an FFA spokesperson said. "The Bakrie Group has requested an extension of seven days to address matters raised by FFA. FFA is considering the request for an extension. FFA last week sought information from the Bakrie Group on the management and financial structure of the Brisbane Roar."
Brisbane's football department has been left in the dark by the Bakrie Group regarding the direction of the club following chairman Rahim Soekasah's departure from Australia. Director Demis Djamaoeddin did not communicate the owners' plans to the Roar's football department or the FFA during his brief visit last week.
There have been long-held concerns over the Bakrie Group's governance of Brisbane Roar, however the governing body was encouraged by their financial commitment last year, where the group cleared statutory debts of up to $4 million.
