Marley Webster entered the world in a rush and both she and her mother, Belinda Webster (nee Clear-Jones), were in critical condition in hospital.
But the family suffered an unparalleled blow at the weekend when husband and father-of-four Craig Webster died suddenly.
Mr Webster and his family attended a surprise party on Friday night and he returned home feeling unwell.
He urged his wife to call the ambulance as he was unable to breathe.
Mr Webster suffered multiple seizures from a lack of oxygen.
It is suspected the cause was an asthma attack but his death is being investigated by the coroner.
“He hadn’t been feeling well for a few months and had chest infections … but you don’t expect a big attack like this,” family friend Mel Cummins said.
Mr Webster leaves behind his wife Belinda and children – Coby, 13, Ava, eight, Flynn, seven and Marley, five months.
Living expenses, mechanic bills, school fees and moving costs were piling up and Ms Cummins refused to feel powerless to help.
She started a GoFundMe page on Saturday afternoon to help Mrs Webster pay for moving costs, funeral expenses and school fees.
It reached $6500 in a day.
“I can’t physically take the pain away but I can lessen the stress in her life by taking away the financial burden,” she said.
“It’s a relief knowing she can walk into the funeral parlour and afford the best for Craig.”
The family is due to move house in two weeks and the Wagga community has come out in support.
Small businesses have offered to mow the lawns and clean the house at the end of the lease.
Hundreds of other community members have donated money or food to the family as they stay at Mrs Webster’s mother’s house until the new house is ready.
Mrs Webster is overwhelmed and humbled by the support, especially from those who did not know her husband personally.
She gives a heartfelt thanks to the community for their support in her time of need.
