Mater Dei gradually fought their way back into the contest and edged out The Riverina Anglican College (TRAC) in an entertaining final, 5.8 (38) to 4.2 (26).
A week after upsetting Kildare in the semi-final, TRAC exploded out of the blocks to boot the first three goals of the final.
Mater Dei fought back to lead by three points at three-quarter-time, and managed the first two goals of the final term to seal the win.
Mater Dei coach Matt Hope loved the way his entire team contributed.
“We didn’t really have a bad player, they were all really good,” Hope said.
“Considering we had to fairly uncontested games coming into the final, it was good to have a really good contest and it was a quality game from two good teams.”
Jack Carey, Rhys Mooney and Nat Mooney played big parts in the victory for Mater Dei.
