After trailing 16-10 at halftime, Tumbarumba hit the front in the second half, only to have Junee overpower the Greens near the end.
Byatt was in sparkling touch again as Tumbarumba gave the Diesels a “scare”.
Reflecting on the six tries to four tries loss, Byatt was adamant Tumbarumba had deserved to pull off an upset.
“I think we probably should have won,” Byatt said.
“We were the better team for a lot of the game. The last 10 minutes didn’t help us.”
In a tense finish, Junee snatched two late tries to break away from the Greens.
