Members from the Riverina Zone and Riverina Highlands Zone participated in the Village Fire Fighter course last weekend.
RFS Riverina Zone instructor/assessor Peter Bye said all participants reported they found the course to be valuable and had a great time learning new skills.
“The course we were running was just one of many that are available to equip our members with the required skills to provide emergency coverage to their community,” Mr Bye said.
He said last week’s course equipped firefighters with the basic skills and knowledge to deal with typical incidents found in the urban environment, including structure fires, car fires, car accidents, gas leaks, and minor fluid spills.
“The course was supported by a team of six volunteers who all gave up their time to ensure the course was run smoothly and the participants got the most out of it,” Mr Bye said.
“From here our members will put their new skills and knowledge into practice at the brigade during training sessions, and then if they so wish come back and participate in further more advanced training courses.”
