The local government drew a line through nine years of rates owed by the South Wagga Sports and Bowling Club, worth $49,135.
The bowling club was placed into administration back in 2009, but has only just been wound up and “there is no prospect of any further monies being recovered”.
The Police Citizens Youth Clubs NSW will now move into the 11 Fitzhardinge Street site.
Council has gone to great lengths to recover unpaid cemetery fees – including arrest warrants – to no avail and must absorb nearly $11,000 worth of burials and plaques.
Other outstanding bills include environmental health inspection, construction certificate and sewer inspection fees.
