News of the tests was delivered at a meeting at Forest Hill attended by just four members of the public on Tuesday night.
The chemicals being looked for are perfluorooctane sulfonate and perfluorooctanoic acid.
Although they have not yet been identified as being a danger to human health, the chemicals have been described as emerging contaminants.
Senior Defence officer at RAAF Base Wagga, Group Captain Ross Jones, spoke about the planned tests on Tuesday night.
He said sampling would start on May 30 and should be complete by June 10.
The results should be available by the end of July and will be made public.
