The former Blue believes the Penrith fullback will excel as NSW look to win back the shield next Wednesday.
“I am a big fan of his and very excited to see what he can do in Origin,” Cooper said. “I think he will be the game breaker.”
Hundreds of Wagga kids were were part of the Road To Origin clinic at Parramore Park on Tuesday where Cooper provided plenty of insights.
Cooper thought coach Laurie Daley and his selectors had picked the right team to take down Queensland.
“Changes had to be made as game three was pretty embarrassing for NSW,” he said.
“I think we have picked a great side with a bit of youth there, a great forward pack and definitely heaps of speed out wide – that is what we are going to need to beat the Queenslanders.”
Cooper was pleased former St George Illawarra teammate Josh Dugan was selected in the centres.
“He plays well in the centres, I think that is his best position,” Cooper said.
“From football he does run a lot of metres and returns the ball well, but for an all-round game I think he is more suited to the centres.”
While relishing in enemy territory, Brent Tate wasn’t too bullish about Queensland’s chances.
“I really like what the Blues have done this year, Tate said.
“I think they have picked a really good side and there are question marks over the Queensland side as well with Kevvy (Walters) taking over as coach.”
