Canberra's Allyson Flynn won't fully celebrate being chosen as an assistant referee at an Olympics until she sets foot on Brazilian turf.

After stress fractures forced her withdrawal from the 2012 London Olympics, the 34-year-old has put steps in place to ensure it doesn't happen again.
The physiotherapist based at the University of Canberra was an assistant referee at the 2011 and 2015 women's World Cups, and now has a chance to cross the world's biggest sports event off her list.
"Definitely after London trying to get Rio has been a big goal, but at this stage I'm no closer to Rio than I was to London," she said.
"I was selected to go [to London] and passed all the FIFA requirements. In my mind, until I actually get off the plane in Rio, I'm not actually there.
"[When I got injured] I was under recovered, on a heavy training load and busy in my work life."
She changed her preparation for the 2015 women's World Cup and is confident her new program will help her avoid further hiccups.
"Having gone through the experience of preparing for that World Cup I've got a clear idea of how to make sure I'm ready," Flynn said.
"One of the biggest changes I've made is I don't do high-impact training on consecutive days, and am much better at monitoring myself through a well-being program at FFA."
Flynn officiated in the England-Japan quarter-final in 2015, and the tournament-opener between host nation Germany and Canada in front of 70,000 fans in 2011.
It's a long way from her first game as a referee 15 years ago, an under-10 club game in Albury-Wodonga.
"When I started it was just a way to earn a bit of money studying at university and to stay involved in football," Flynn said.
"I think they [World Cups and Olympics] are both equal and bring different experiences.
"Obviously the World Cup is focused on football and the Olympics is a multi-sport event much more recognised in the Australian community."
Fellow Canberra referee Ben Williams was a central referee at the London Games and praised Flynn's determination.
"She works really hard and is bloody good at what she does, I'm proud she's got the opportunity to go to Rio," Williams said.
"When you think you're going [to London] and then you're not, it's obviously a huge thing but she probably learned a lot from that.
"You have to take the positives out of the most negative things and she probably could have packed it in then."
