The two-year-old filly scored a 13.2-metre win at Wagga last week but they elected to head to the non-TAB meeting at Coolamon on Sunday instead of chasing the bigger prizemoney at Young.
The Harness Breeders NSW Princess Series was run on Friday night and despite being worth $6000 the Maguires decided against the race.
“We were up in the air,” Reece Maguire said.
“The field wasn’t that tough, I don’t think, but more for the racing experience we thought to go to Coolamon.
“If she picks up that extra $1000 (for winning) she picks up that extra $1000.
“It doesn’t change her grade or anything.”
After pulling off a betting plunge in her debut win, Maguire expects there is plenty of improvement to come from the daughter of Santanna Blue Chip.
“She went really good but can still be a little bit better than that,” Maguire said.
“She is still not sure what she is doing, but once she knows what she is doing I think she is going to a very nice two-year-old.”
He rated Simply Clever the best of his four chances but also expects a good showing from The Mighty Falcon.
After an impressive win on debut in Australia, The Mighty Falcon blotted his copy book after a short break.
“He was disappointing last start but there was a reason behind that,” Maguire said.
“He was a bit crook and we had him vet checked after the race.”
Maguire will also drive against his own stable in sister Martelle to drive Im Johnny Jet while he will takes the drive on Jackabeems for Wagga trainer Shane Hallcroft.
Maguire will also drive the resuming Bettors Power while younger sister Martelle has four drives.
She is part of the all women’s drivers Mother’s Day Ladyship Pace, driving Lady Warhol for Hellen Scott.
