A far cry from the glitz and glamour of this week’s Gold Cup Carnival, the Murrumbidgee Turf Club will look very different come November.

The venue will be transformed into a stage for one of the biggest concerts the city has seen.
Rock at the Races will see some of the biggest names from the 1980s in Wagga at once.
Dragon, 1927, Richard Clapton, Ross Wilson, and Rose Tattoo are just some of the 12 acts that will grace the stage.
Richard Clapton spoke to The Daily Advertiser about the announcement.
“It seems to be a pretty good value gig,” he said.
“There are artists who haven’t appeared for a while.
“It’s a good opportunity for people to see acts they haven’t seen in 20 years.”
Clapton garnered a reputation for setting his own musical agenda when other artists were scrambling to be played on pop music shows.
“Way back in the day, I didn’t fit into that Countdown mould,” he said.
“Those of us who were more into pure music seem to have survived better.”
Clapton is best known for hits such as Girls on the Avenue and I am an Island but said audiences can expect more of his new material, including songs from his latest album The House of Orange.
The new album was produced in Nashville and features a song he co-wrote with his daughter, Saskia Clapton, called Carry Me Home.
“She keeps me young,” he said.
But Clapton said there is still joy to be found in fans taking delight in hits he released decades ago.
“Each time you hear one of those records, it takes you back to a place,” he said.
“It’s pretty special because I can actually feel I’m connecting to people.
“We’ve all come a long way and it’s been a real journey.”
