The last time Aggies travelled to Murrayfield they were given a footballing lesson and he is out to make amends with a new look team.
Macleay has been installed as captain of the young team this year and is looking to bring some more respectability back to the club.
“It wasn’t the most pleasant experience, but the good thing about that is when you get flogged it makes you want to flog them back,” Macleay said. “The aim this week is play good rugby, strong rugby, passionate and enthusiastic rugby.
“That is what Ag College is about this year.”
Coming off the back of a 96-point win over Griffith, and with Albury yet to win a game this season, Macleay is confident of producing a much better showing.
“The way we have been playing the last two weeks, and while it is only two wins in a row and you can’t get ahead of yourself, you have to be confident,” he said.
The club was rocked by some high profile departures during the off-season, however Macleay believes they are playing as a much more close knit team because of it.
“So far it is going very well,” he said.
“Compared to how we started last year it is good to get a few wins on the board.
“The culture of the club has really lifted and everyone is keen, hungry and passionate people.”
One of the older statesmen in the young playing group Macleay has been leading by example in the second row.
The 23-year-old in his fifth year with the club and said there is a different feel this season.
“Sometimes if you have all these superstars and they don’t gel there is no point,” he said. “Obviously the individual players are always good to have but if you are a strong team with good cohesion and camaraderie it is so much better.
“On and off the field we are getting on so much better and everyone is just really excited and here for all the right reasons.”
While Albury are still searching for their first win of the year they will be buoyed by a number of big names returning.
Richard Manion is set to play his first game of the season at five-eighth, while Blake Le Cornu returns to the team at outside centre.
Both played big hands in the 101-0 win last July, but Macleay is ready for the challenge.
“We love a challenge and it doesn’t who you are or what you’ve done it is what happens on Saturday that counts,” he said.
Ag College have only made the one change with Rob Wiltshire coming in for the unavailable Jack McIntosh in the front row.
Coach Nick McCarthy is happy with how the team is travelling.
“We are happy with the way he shape up, we’ve trained well this week and it is nice to have some continuity with pretty much the same side for three weeks in a row,” McCarthy said.
