John Hart was jailed for a minimum one year and 10 months in August, 2014, on five counts of perverting the course of justice.
He appealed against the sentence on seven grounds, including that he and his legal representatives were unaware at the time of sentence that the Independent Commission Against Corruption which uncovered his illegal behaviour had overstepped its defined boundaries.
The Court of Criminal Appeal this week dismissed the appeal.
Hart is due for release on June 21.
He will then be on parole until May 21, 2017.
